Essential Oils for Mature Skin

Essential Oils for Mature Skin

Ever wondered which essential oils you should be using on your skin and why? I have put together 10 blends to try in your skincare, why you should use them, ways to use them, and some recipes to try. For the face, you should only use 1 % essential oils in your creations. This means 6 drops per ounce or 1 drop per teaspoon.

If you have never used an essential oil, you might want to do a patch test. To do this, dilute the oil in a carrier oil and apply a small amount to your inner elbow. Put a Band-Aid over it and leave it for 48 hours. If you do not have a reaction, then you are probably not allergic to it.

And don’t forget to be consistent. Consistency brings results.

Bath Oil

You might like this video to find oils that you’d like to use on your face, body, and hair.

Facial Serum

To hydrate, improve skin elasticity, and get the benefits of antioxidants, mix essential oils with your favorite carrier oil and apply a few drops to your face after cleansing and toning. You’ll want to massage it gently into your skin in an upward circular motion. Here is a facial serum recipe.

Add it to Your Moisturizer

You can make your own moisturizer or add a few drops of essential oils to your store-bought moisturizer. Be sure to mix it well before applying it to your face. Need a recipe? Try this one with mango butter.

Face Mask

Add a few drops of your essential oil blend to a face mask. Apply the mask, leave it on for the recommended time, and wash off to help dry, dull, puffy, or uneven textured skin.

Facial Steam

Add your essential oil blend to a bowl of hot water. Add your favorite herbs and flowers if you would like. Or if you don’t have any, try some tea. Put a towel over your head, lean over the bowl and let the steam open your pores. Do this for 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, you can use a moisturizer.

See this post for more about steam facials.

Overnight Treatment

Apply a few drops of your essential oil blend mixed with your favorite carrier oil and leave it on overnight.

Facial massage

Add essential oils to your favorite carrier oil and give yourself a nice facial massage.
