The Ultimate Cozy Self-Care Winter Evening

Winter is the perfect excuse to indulge in a little extra self-care; especially when you can't get out. This month I've caught up on my sleep. My kiddo has let me sleep until 8:30 many mornings. Whether you're seeking to unwind after a long day or just want to embrace the season's coziness, creating your own winter hygge can be a transformative experience. Here’s how to make your own cozy self-care routine for those chilly evenings.

1. Set the Mood

Create the perfect ambiance by dimming the lights or using candlelight or fairy lights. Here are some cozy winter essential oil blends for your diffuser:

1. Warm and Spicy Blend

  • 3 drops Sweet Orange
  • 2 drops Cinnamon Bark
  • 2 drops Clove

2. Winter Wonderland

  • 4 drops Fir Needle
  • 2 drops Peppermint
  • 1 drop Eucalyptus

3. Comforting Vanilla Spice

  • 3 drops Vanilla
  • 2 drops Ginger
  • 2 drops Cedarwood

4. Cozy Cabin

  • 3 drops Sandalwood
  • 2 drops Frankincense
  • 2 drops Cypress

Don’t forget to wrap yourself in your favorite blanket!

2. Enjoy a Warm Beverage

What is cozier than a steaming cup of herbal tea or hot chocolate? Maybe you like apple cider or a latte. Whatever it is, take a moment to savor the flavor and let it warm you from the inside out. Don't forget to use your favorite mug!

3. Indulge in a Luxurious Bath

A warm bath is my favorite self-care ritual and it's especially nice in the winter. Make it even better by making your own bath salts. Or just adding carrier oil with your favorite essential oils.

For an extra bit of luxury, use a bath tray to hold a book, a candle, or your warm drink. Use a body butter after your bath to keep your skin moisturized

4. Pamper Your Skin

Winter weather is hard on our skin and winter is a great time to start a skincare routine if you don't already have one. Start with a gentle exfoliation which will get rid of dry, flaky skin. Next you can try a hydrating facial mask with ingredients such as honey, roses, or aloe.

A facial oil and rich night cream can help you restore moisture and protect the skin from the cold, dry, winter air. Don't forget your neck, hands, and lips!

5. Cozy Up with a Good Book or Movie

If you're like me, you have a stack (or 2 or 3) of books you've been wanting to read. Whether you like books or movies, pick one that will make you feel warm and happy. Grab your soft blanket and some popcorn and get lost in the story.

6. Do Some Gentle Stretching

Ease the tension in your body with gentle stretching. Focus on slow, deliberate movements that promote relaxation and prepare you for restful sleep.

7. Write in a Journal

Spend 15 minutes writing about your day in your journal. You can just write about your day, write what you are grateful for your use a prompt. Here are some you might like:
