This week doesn’t need your sharp edges.
By the middle of the week, our bodies often tell the truth before our words do: jaw clenched, shoulders lifted, breath shallow. If you notice that bracing today, pause for a moment. Let this be a gentle check-in instead of another demand.
Our word for January is soften, and today that invitation begins in the body.
Softening doesn’t mean giving up.
It means releasing what you don’t need to carry so tightly.
If you’re able, try this simple moment of stillness:
Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Inhale slowly through your nose. Exhale a little longer than you inhaled. Do that three times. With each exhale, imagine something loosening—your shoulders, your hands, your jaw.
Jesus reminds us, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Rest doesn’t always come from stopping, it often comes from softening into His presence.
You might close this moment by whispering:
I release what I’ve been gripping.
May your body feel permission to soften tonight,
Carrie
