As the sun grows stronger and the days stretch longer, your skincare needs a summer refresh—especially if you're over 40 and want to nourish your skin, not just shield it.
In this week’s podcast episode, we’re diving into hydration, radiance, and protection—the three pillars of glowing, summer-ready skin at any age. You’ll learn simple ways to hydrate your skin (inside and out), boost your natural glow, and guard against sun damage without harsh ingredients.

This refreshing facial mist hydrates, soothes, and uplifts your skin and spirit during hot, dry summer days.
You’ll Need:
- 2 oz rose hydrosol or rose water
- 1 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional for extra moisture). You could also use an oil.
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
- A small glass spray bottle
To Make:
Add all ingredients to the spray bottle. Shake gently before each use. Mist your face morning, afternoon, and anytime you need a cool pick-me-up.
🌸 Tip: Keep it in the fridge for an extra-refreshing boost!

🌿 Plant of the Week: Calendula
The Golden Healer for Summer Skin
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is one of my favorite skin-loving herbs—especially in the summertime.
Why I love it:
- Soothes sun-kissed or irritated skin
- Supports skin renewal and healing
- Anti-inflammatory and gentle enough for sensitive, mature skin
How to use it:
- Infuse calendula petals in jojoba or olive oil for 4–6 weeks in a sunny window
- Use the infused oil as a base for facial oils, balms, or body serums
- Brew as a tea and use as a compress, or facial steam for calming care
✨ Summer Tip: Add a few drops of calendula-infused oil to your evening aloe blend for an extra dose of nourishment.

📖 A Summer Read:
“The Wild Remedy” by Emma Mitchell — a beautifully illustrated nature journal that pairs perfectly with a cup of lemon balm tea. I haven’t read this yet but it’s going on my list.
🫧 Herbal Bath Sachets
Chamomile + lavender + rolled oats in a muslin bag = soft, silky skin after a day in the garden.
🕯️ Morning Candle with Rosemary and Mint
A grounding way to wake up my senses before checking my phone or to-do list.
🍶 Small Glass Bottle of Oil on My Nightstand
Containing jojoba, rosehip seed, and wheat germ oil, this has become my favorite nightly ritual.
